Sidney the Silly - Who Only Eats 6 (2007)

Marianne began her career writing software and designing software systems for AT&T, the University of Florida and the FDA. Software documentation led to technical writing and numerous magazine articles in the field of architectural stone.

A love of word and number and a strong belief that children should learn to appreciate both led Marianne to the interdisciplinary idea of presenting math in poetry. Rhyme makes the basic concepts of mathematics more approachable and easier to remember.

Marianne’s poetry has appeared in Highlights for Children magazine. She loves reading bouncy number poems to classes of school children, watching their eyes light up with understanding and hearing them laugh.

Sidney the Silly - Who Only Eats 6 (illustrated by Sarah Tommer) is Marianne’s first picture book.  Coming soon are a Workbook and Teacher's Guide to accompany Sidney the Silly, and watch for Filthy Franny and the 4 Faery Fleas coming in Sept. 2008!
