Vernon and the Snake (February 2007)
When Eleanor was a small crabby child her family could quiet her wailing only with a pencil and paper with which she's been scribbling ever since. Eleanor grew up in a woodsy North Vancouver community that encouraged her artistic endeavors. Support from the Artists for Kids foundation helped Eleanor hone her drawing and painting skills during early years.
Eleanor's education has been filled with holes that were filled with travels. After nine months of painting murals and traveling Australia she returned to Vancouver to attend the Emily Carr Institute on Granville Island. There she studied communication design and illustration. Eleanor has self published an illustrated Choose-Your-Own Short Story Adventure for teens titled Soiree.
Currently, Eleanor is co-owner of a small design company called OneLove Media. The accompanying web-forum of OneLove Media is an inspiring network of community development organizations and innovative Canadian arts. Aside from dancing, doodling and doing yoga, Eleanor has done design work for various independent theatre companies in Vancouver. Eleanor is currently adventuring around the world and will be back..well...sometime in the future! Vernon and the Snake is Eleanor's first picture book.
