BRUNCH FOR BOOKS at the FAIRMONT WATERFRONT HOTEL

*sponsored by Gumboot Books!

On the last Sunday of every month, there is a celebrity reading a story in Heron's restaurant at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver.  $5 from every brunch is donated to Raise-a-Reader Vancouver, and Gumboot Books provides a free book for every child who attends.  Brunch is at 11:30am and the reading takes place at 12:30.

The reader for the August 31st event will be J. William Chute, who is the Director of Public Education with the Ambulance Paramedics of B.C.  He will be reading Faeries Are Real by Crystal J. Stranaghan and Izabela Bzymek.

LAUNCH PARTIES FOR A WORLD OF STORIES and EVERYONE'S INVITED!

Sunday Sept. 7, 2008 in Parksville, BC (Vancouver Island)

Location: Parksville Public Library

Time: 1-3 pm

What's happening? This is the very first time you'll be able to get your hands on a copy of the World of Stories collection!  Local Rotarians will be presenting copies of the book to local literacy groups, authors and illustrators will be signing books, and we'll have prizes and lots of fun stuff for anyone who comes out to show their support for literacy!

Tuesday Sept. 9, 2008 in West Vancouver, BC

Location: Caulfeild Elementary School (4685 Keith Road in West Vancouver, BC)

Time: 6:30-8:30 pm.

What's happening? The most World of Stories authors and illustrators you'll ever find in one place!  Come on out and get your copy of the book signed by the people who created it.  We'll have prizes, games, readings and you'll get to meet the people behind your favourite stories.
