The Great Gumboot Books Fundraising Story Project

This contest is closed, and winning entries will be included in the book A World of Stories to be released in September 2008 in a collection to raise funds for literacy projects in the community.  To read more about the winning entries that will be published in the collection, follow this link.

Thank you to everyone who so generously shared their stories with us.  We had a wonderful time reading the entries, and a really difficult time choosing which stories would be included in the book.  We have sent emails to everyone (we hope) who sent us a submission for the contest, and have been in touch directly with all the authors and illustrators whose submissions were chosen.  Unfortunately, some people did not include a working email address, or may not have received the email replies due to sensitive security settings in some email servers.  We did have several emails "bounce".

However, we have been in touch with all of the winners, so if you have not heard from us, this does mean that your story was not one of the stories chosen for this collection.

We thank you all very much for your generous hearts, and busy pens, and we encourage you all to keep your eyes on this site for more opportunities coming up in the future!

Illustrators:
If you are passionate about illustrating picture books for children, and would like to work with the creative team at Gumboot Books, please email us at: artworksubmissions@gumbootbooks.ca with a cover letter, bio and link to your website or three-four jpeg samples of your work. No...you don’t necessarily need to be experienced...just talented and passionate about creating artwork for children!

PLEASE NOTE: GUMBOOT BOOKS IS NOW

CLOSED TO ALL UNSOLICITED SUBMISSIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

While we are flattered that so many people think we would be the perfect home for their stories, we have been swamped with submissions and we need some time to catch up on replying to all the submissions we have already received, before we can turn our attention to new ones.

If you decide to send us a submission without a written invitation to do so, please be advised that we will be unable to read, return or reply to your submission, and it will be recycled.

Please keep checking this page (and our blog), and we will let you know when we're ready and caught up.  You can also arrange an editorial appointment with Publisher, Crystal Stranaghan at the Surrey International Writer's Conference in October, 2008.
