World Sleep Day

The Sleep Sheep is a humourous tale about what happens when Sheep 4 decides he isn't really needed at work anymore.  Can you imagine a world where you could only count sheep up to Number 3 before you get stuck?

Author: Nancy Elizabeth McConnell (USA)
Nancy was born in Montreal. Nancy always wanted to be a writer. In 1989, she graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor Degree in Education and spent several years teaching. That same year she married her wonderful husband Doug and they now have three beautiful children, Rebecca, Nicola and Christopher.  While staying at home with her children, Nancy spent time researching and reading children’s literature. Since then she has logged many hours on her computer returning to her first love: creating stories.  After her family moved from Montreal to Chicago, Nancy was able to devote more time to writing. She joined a dedicated group of writers who helped her sharpen her skills. She teaches Sunday school and helps at the local school regularly. She attends local writer’s groups and has become a member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

Illustrator: Natalia Vasquez (Peru)
Natalia loves to draw—especially little animals, people and magic places that make her feel like a child again. Natalia lives with her boyfriend and her closest neighbors are two lazy dogs that, in between drools and paw prints, fill their days with warmth. She started working as an illustrator when her painting studies at the Fine Arts School (in Lima ) ended and instantly liked it!  As a freelancer, she loves to work from home, and at her studio enjoys starting her late mornings with a nice cup of fresh made coffee.  Natalia lives and works in Lima, Perú.

Here is how Natalia created the illustrations for The Sleep Sheep: ”I paint my illustrations with mixed media (light watercolor base before going to Photoshop CS2).”
